Dresden is More Dynamic

More than 30 percent economic growth and increased productivity, thousands of start-ups and a substantial drop in unemployment—things have been going well for Dresden's economy, and not just for the last ten years: this dynamism is here to stay.

Current city rankings show that Dresden has not stopped developing. In the rankings compiled by the Feri Institute for 'Capital' financial magazine, for example, Dresden came in sixth on a list of 60 German cities. The list compared the outlook for growth, workplaces and prosperity until 2017. With 112 births per 10,000 inhabitants, Dresden is the undisputed holder of the title 'Births Capital of Germany,' coming before Frankfurt and Munich.

Excellence is the city‘s motto

Dresden’s success is based on key technologies including microelectronics, information-and-communications, new materials, photovoltaic and nanotechnology, and, life sciences and biotechnology. The interdisciplinary collaboration between businesses and research facilities helps move Dresden forward.
