Dresden enjoys excellent medical care and an effective social welfare infrastructure. There are more than 2,500 doctors taking care of the city's people.

In seven hospitals there are more than 3,500 beds available to patients. Almost 600 dentists work in Dresden. More than 100 city pharmacists provide the city's residents with medicine.
